Plan International supported young women and men in their development of life skills and plans, as well as market-driven skills and knowledge, and financial literacy essential for the generation and management of sustainable enterprises or for decent employment. Access to financial services, as well as training for their participation in decision-making within their families and communities was also provided. 556 young people (300 women) were inserted in the labour market, and 301 young people (163 women) started generating income from business ideas, such as handicrafts, apiculture, footwear, computer services, ecotourism and gastronomy. More than 70 private companies offered job opportunities. Efforts were coordinated and alliances consolidated with government institutions and local networks for the continuation and expansion of the initiative.
Learning skills that are relevant for the labour market improve the chances of young men and women finding employment or starting their own successful enterprise.
