To guarantee emergency and health care for the population affected by the war, MSF provided high-quality inpatient care in the rural hospital of the Dhi As Sufal district. The hospital lacked qualified medical staff, supplies and equipment. Throughout 2018, 24/7 life-saving emergency care could be ensured, and 9 375 new consultations were provided in the emergency department. 4 066 surgical interventions were performed mainly for patients with a trauma. Other reasons of admission were acute abdominal and obstetric emergencies. International staff provided capacity building and quality control until procedures were in place to keep quality health care in the operating theatre and the intensive care unit running by local staff.

In the neonatal ward of the hospital in the Dhi As Sufal district, MSF ensures that standard medical care is provided even during the ongoing war.
