Coach Youth for Employment and Entrepreneurship

Through the development of a coaching system, the coherence between labour market opportunities and the employability of young adults, could be effectively improved. The coaching cycle developed to increase employment chances of marginalised youth lasts 9 to 12 months. Staff of the National Employment Service, NGO’s and the private sector were trained to implement the coaching methodology. Besides theoretical instruction, the coaching comprises practical courses and internships to enhance the candidates’ competencies. Selected businesses offered short and long internships, provided on-the-job-training and finally employed many participants. At the end of the project, 60% of the participants were employed. This positive outcome convinced the Government Employment Offices and different enterprises to adopt the approach.
