The partner organisation approached water management in a holistic way by working on awareness raising, water harvesting, sustainable water use, improving water quality etc. The local team had very good access to families and schools, also thanks to their pedagogical methods. Worth mentioning is the organisation of savings groups to buy spare parts. The project provided water filters to 107 more families than the planned 480, and successfully reduced gastrointestinal diseases in the intervention zone. The project was highly relevant considering the water scarcity of the region. Yet, not all planned filter systems to reuse domestic water for home gardens could be installed, as accessibility to the target areas was limited due to the poor condition of the transport routes. Also, no structural changes could be made, since some families do not have land nor property rights.
