Organisation Association Vive Zene, Tuzla

Since 2001, Vive Zene has been providing psychotherapeutic, medical and legal support to women and children traumatised by war and violence in its therapy centre and shelter in Tuzla. Every year, around 300 victims have been receiving treatment, and 6 to 7 women out of 10 have been able to decrease symptoms of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress. There are laws in place that oblige the state to address violence against women and girls, that is deeply rooted in the society. Unfortunately, due to lack of political will at national level to provide the required financial means, women’s shelters struggle with survival. Thanks to its persistent efforts, Vive Zene were able to persuade cantonal and municipal authorities to substantially support its shelter. It will continue to call for more state support for basic services for survivors of violence.
