Ghana’s kindergarten sector faces fundamental challenges of access to and quality of education. Sabre Education together with the Ghana Education Service implemented a government strategic plan to improve the quality of instruction through in-service training of kindergarten teachers, head teachers and public officers. The transformative pilot project reached all 88 government kindergartens in Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District. All concerned were equipped with skills and knowledge to deliver play-based learning to improve the quality of learning and child-friendliness of classrooms. The lessons drawn from this pilot project have informed expansion to other districts and are intended to serve as a model for scaling up at the national level. Two kindergarten classrooms were built, offering a best-practice model for others to learn from.
