This project built on Save the Children’s prior work in eight municipalities that had also been supported by Medicor Foundation. With two new local partners, RROGRAEK and Nevo Koncepti, and a former one, RADC, it continued to promote access to education for children from Roma communities. Despite annual school enrolment campaigns that were conducted with the full support of teachers, awareness-raising on the importance of early education, and door-to-door visits to parents to identify children who reached the age to be registered, enrolment of Roma children in pre-primary and primary education remains a challenge in Kosovo. This is firstly because the legal basis for pre-primary education, as part of the pre-university law, is interpreted differently, and secondly, Serbian enclaves do not acknowledge Kosovar law.
