The regional hospital providing health services to 30 000 people is located in northern Albania. The infrastructure had deteriorated and was in such bad condition that it was a danger to patients and staffs. The roof had been badly damaged by a hailstorm, and since then, rainwater and snowmelt had been seeping through the roof. The Ministry of Health could not provide the funds needed to renovate the hospital. Under the close supervision of a longstanding partner of Medicor Foundation,
the Albania-Austria Partnerschaft, construction work started in October 2016. Already in June 2017, the completely renovated hospital re-opened. The broken-down sanitary block for personnel, which had no longer been  in use, was also fully renewed. or the 8 doctors and 75 nurses it has become a totally different way of working and of treating their patients.
