Casa Alianza developed a model of holistic care, and its professional teams provide medical, emotional and social support. Casa Alianza Honduras runs two residential centres and several programmes that offer assistance to homeless children and teenagers in need of help in downtown Tegucigalpa. One residence provides protection for up to 75 boys and girls. The children remain there on average for 276 days. The other residence receives girl victims of sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
The residence’s staff takes care of an average of 30 to 50 girls per year. Both centres offer crisis care as well as long-term counselling to support the children to create new lives, free of violence and beyond poverty. Specialists help the children recover from traumatic experiences and withdraw from addiction to harmful substances.
Meditation, yoga and breathing exercises help to manage stress and to relax when the consequences of trauma hurt. These exercises help the girls to manage the crisis and leave it behind. © Casa Alianza
